Alert on the Danube: Ship sinks in Calarasi County
“There are convoys of about 50 barges, as well as ships of Calarasi-based companies that broke their moorings and are now drifting down the river. They were all warned by the Calarasi Harbour Master’s Office, before the freezing, to avoid entering the river and find a safe place to lay at anchor. We were informed that one ship already sank and another is dangerously listing. We will have this situation confirmed,” the prefect of Calarasi County, Emil Musat said. Sources with the port authorities say the sunken ship was named ADA 1, and the other that is badly listing is DUNAV. In order to deal with the situation, authorities should break the ice shelf that extends from Sulina to Giurgiu. “There were attempts to break it, but this is impossible. Now, ships should be moored with thick cables, but no matter how thick they are, nature proved that they will break under the force of ice. All sailors were notified to abandon the ships in case of danger,” the prefect added

A crisis cell organised at the Transport Ministry’s HQ analyses the opportunity of blowing up the Calarasi ice shelf. Government officials assure that authorities are “in control of the situation.”
The alert on the Danube continues, after a ship sank earlier this week, and others are in danger of suffering the same fate, after the melting of the ice shelf which extends from Sulina to Giurgiu.
...
“At this moment, the situation on the Danube has stabilised, and the ice blocks are flowing through the middle of the river, which is very well, because they do not hit the ships anchored near the banks. We are monitoring the situation, and the conclusion which resulted from the helicopter inspection along the Calarasi section of the Danube shows that an intervention by detonation would not be efficient now, because the ice shelf is more than one meter – sometimes even more than two meters – thick between Cernavoda and Oltenita, and detonating it can generate an ice dam, damaging areas downstream,” Musat said, quoted by Mediafax.Currently, 18 barge convoys with 50 barges, and about 20 vessels operated by various companies are blocked by ice on the Danube, between kilometers 300 and 400.

Hallo Vladimir
hab da was für Dich
Schau mal Hier
http://www.novinite.com/view_news.php?id=137197
Bulgaria's Transport Ministry said Friday that all of Bulgaria's Danube ports are functioning "normally", with the exception of Port Silistra and Port Tutrakan, which remain closed as they have been badly damaged by the recent ice float.
The Bulgarian Maritime Administration has nonetheless warned all navigation companies to be alert since not all navigation signs have been restored yet
